Aylett Nurseries Garden Centre | Virtual Tour

Aylett Nurseries is a large, independent, family-run garden centre located in St Albans. It offers a wide range of plants, shrubs and trees, gardening furniture and products and gifts. Roger Aylett established the nurseries on seven acres of pasture land in 1955. There are always lots of experienced staff on hand to offer advice in all departments. Alternatively the centre has its very own Plant Information & Advice Centre. The Dahlia Coffee House with indoor and outdoor seating serves homemade food and provides a calm relaxing environment when you need a little sit down. Ayletts are award-winning dahlia specialist and are famous for their two acre dahlia field, and their Dahlia Festival which takes place in September.

Striking Places began discussions with Julie and Adam in the early summer. The enormous size of the grounds meant two full shoot days to get all the imagery in the can. When mapping out the interactive walkthrough, Jo photographed over 70 individual panoramas! The garden centre virtual tour was live and uploaded to the Aylett Nursery Google My Business page by mid July and embedded in their website by the end of the month.

It was the size consideration that inspired the team to commission the TourDash interactive overlay for the Google garden centre virtual tour. The easy to use menu was the ideal solution to enable visitors to experience key areas of the enormous garden centre. We were able to shoot the dahlia field later on in the year when it was in bloom and add it to the garden centre virtual tour, allowing viewers to marvel at the glorious field throughout the year.

Striking Places are brilliant to work with. They are great to have around and work really efficiently with no disruption to customers or staff. A lot of the Aylett Team had used Google Street View so they were really excited about it being extended inside Aylett Nurseries. The benefits have been manifold. We have over 42,000 product lines. Listing them would be ridiculous but the tour enables customers to visually see what we have on offer and has really brought the garden centre alive.
