This website is run by Striking Places Limited (company number 09741068), trading as Striking Places Photography. This page explains the cookies used on strikingplaces.com and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website saves on your phone or computer. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help me understand how people use the site, or come from things like maps and videos that I’ve put on the pages.
When you first visit, a banner asks which cookies you’re happy with. Apart from the ones the site needs to work, nothing is set until you say yes.
Cookies the site needs
- CookieYes, the tool that runs the cookie banner, saves a cookie to remember your choices so it doesn’t ask you every time.
- If you log in to the website, WordPress uses cookies to keep you logged in. That’s only me and the people who help run the site.
Analytics cookies
I use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to see how many people visit, which pages they look at and how they found the site. It doesn’t tell me who you are. These cookies are only set if you accept analytics cookies.
Cookies from things shown on the pages
Some pages show content from other companies. When you view it, they may set their own cookies:
- Google Maps, for maps and Google Street View tours
- YouTube, for videos
- Matterport and TourDash, for 3D virtual tours
- Trustindex, for the Google reviews badge
- Facebook, where a Facebook post is shown
These companies control their own cookies and explain how they use them on their own websites.
Changing your mind
You can change your cookie choices at any time by clicking the round Consent Preferences button at the bottom left of any page. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
