Established 93 years ago in 1923 by Fred Carpenter Senior, this family run garden centre and farm shop is located in Hertfordshire on the road from St Albans to Sandridge. The shop stocks garden tools and preparations as well as pet food, kitchenware and gifts. However the main draw for customers is the wide variety of home grown plants, fruit and vegetables from the fields and greenhouses on the same site. The farm shop has also recently started stocking bread, milk and cheese. Local customers love to drop in for their daily provisions. The Carpenter’s team pride themselves in responding quickly to local demand and customers love to buy locally sourced produce.
The owners have recently invested in a refurbishment project for the shop which is now bright, tastefully decorated and much larger so able to offer a much larger selection of products.
Keen to showcase their improved premises and update the imagery on their website Carpenter’s could instantly see the potential for a Google virtual tour. Although the site covers twelve acres of open farm land dedicated to growing, James Carpenter wanted to focus the virtual tour and put the new farm shop on the map. Enabling them to compete with other retailers in an increasingly challenging market.
Carpenter’s Nursery and Striking Places are both member of the HTA (Horticultural Trades Association). As part of a Cost Reduction Scheme with the HTA Striking Places offer HTA members discounts on all things photographic.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Striking Places and I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking about improving their website and social media outlets. The photos that we received captured our premises perfectly and the virtual tour gives potential customers a great feel of the site before visiting. The level of service we received both during and after the work was completed has been of the highest standard and it has been a pleasure to work with them.”
