The Hertfordshire County Show is the biggest family day out in the County, offering free attractions, local food and drink, a “not on the High Street” shopping experience and the chance to “meet the farmer” and his farmyard animals, so it was a pleasure to be able to capture the buzz and excitement of the weekend with a 360 virtual tour.
Boasting a wide range of attractions, from a strong man tractor pull to sheep shows and a dinky derby, the event brings together 30,000 people from far and wide for a full weekend of cute animals, spectacular sights and lots and lots of food.
The Society behind the Herts Show was founded in 1801 with the aim of promoting farming and agriculture and all associated skills, crafts, trades and professions. The county show, which has been officially running for 132 years and attracts about 35,000 visitors during the two-day show at the Hertfordshire Showground in Redbourn each May, is a key way of doing this.
Jo was referred to Sarah at the Herts Show by the lovely Joolz from The Virtual Marketeer when she visited the show and started raving about Google Street View Photography and how she really must talk to Striking Places. Sarah understands how powerful the benefits of increased and consistent visibility on Google Street View, on Google Maps, are for the show year round. Serving as a reminder to people throughout the year, not just when the show is coming up. As the show is held on the 70 acre Hertfordshire Showground site, there were an astounding number of shots to take to really convey the enormity of the show to visitors.
The shoot was a blast for Jo, in her element taking imagery of the animals and climbing on the enormous agricultural machinery. It was also great fun engaging with all the traders in the Made in Herts tent and helping capture the event in our extra special style.
Farr Brew, who support WEB, by hosting the monthly breakfast meeting on the last Friday of the month in their bar in Wheathampstead The Reading Rooms. Looking very busy here at their stall in the Made in Herts tent.
Capturing a 360 Virtual Tour of a whole county show is a great opportunity to really show what Google Street View can do on a larger scale; giving the Hertfordshire Agricultural Society a fantastic tool to help sponsors and exhibitors of next year’s show experience the magnificence of the event virtually via website, mobile and Google Street View Inside.
