Rackspace is an impressive global Managed Cloud company. Established in 1998 they operate on four continents and serve over 200,000 customers. If that isn’t impressive enough, they have also been featured in the Sunday Times’ best 100 companies to work for.
Rackspace had already commissioned a U.S. based Google Trusted Photographer to shoot a Google Street View Trusted virtual tour in their U.S. offices and were so impressed they wanted the same for their UK office in Hayes. Striking Places received the initial call from the San Antonio, Texas head office and later coordination was done directly with the London.
The primary purpose for the virtual tour was to enable prospective employees to get a sense of the fantastic working environment and amenities the company provides. The central atrium and external windows mean that the whole space is flooded with natural light and the cool, very funky open plan office areas are surrounded by balloons, plants, stuffed toys and even the odd guitar.
This is one of the largest virtual tours we have shoot and covers 4 floors, 100,000 square feet. The tour uses and very useful multi-floor navigational feature that allows you to flip easily between floors.
Each level of the building incorporates a different aspect of the home into the space. For example the ground floor mimics a garage and includes a Mini Cooper which we actually managed to created an individual panorama for (definitely the smallest space we have ever shot in). The First floor has a retro lounge feel and the Second the look of a traditional library with the Third resembling the garden with a host of picnic benches on a carpet of fake grass-like flooring.
